Music and lyrics

Postby no one » Tue Mar 16, 2004 6:25 pm

I just wondered if anyone knew of some more obscure metal/punk bands that had good anti-capitalist content. DKs, MDC, the Subhumans and Conflict are all great in my eyes. Lyrically metal is a lot weaker. Granted Rage were good and System have their moments but generally its disappointing. Napalm Death are appreciated but I can't really think of much else (preferably less extreme than Napalm Death). Also, there is a new band called 'The Devils' who are pretty cool, feature ex-Extreme Noise Terror amongst others. Their CD is worth checking out (www.iatde.com).
I know this isn't a music website but I hope some people appreciate this and can reply with some good recommendations.

Also, I am just starting a band myself but there is no music as of yet. However, I have got a lot of lyrics written down. The concept is 'anarcho-thrash' and the band is called PIT (standing for Property Is Theft). I was wondering if anyone would be interesting in seeing the lyrics. If so, say the word. If not I'll leave them off. Also, there are no songs about revolutionary children :) Anyone else in a band on the site? I imagine their must be a few punk members out there...

Anarchist metal?

Catharsis, Zegota, Assuck, uhh. I don't know, I don't listen to much metal anymore.

refused is amazing!

oh and post your lyrics in the crucible section. I'd be glad to see more political poetry in there. Yeah, post them.

I hate Rise Against. Signing to Dreamworks while claiming to be all about DIY is bullshit.

If we're going for anarchist message... Baby I'm an Anarchist, Burn, 8 Full Hours of Sleep, Politics of Starving, Most of Visada Vis...

Desaparecidos

I wanna pledge allegience to the country where I live.
I don't wanna be ashamed to be American, but opportunity?
It don't exist; it's the opiate of the populace. We need some
harder shit now.

There are no art forms now, just capitalism.

Fuck war - I said FUCK GAS MASKS!

Bright Eyes

Well I should stop pointing fingers
Reserve my judgment
Of all those public action figures
And cowboy presidents
So loud behind the bull-horns
So proud they can’t admit
When they’ve made a mistake

While poison ink spews
From a speech writers pen
He knows he don’t have to say it
So it don’t bother him

Honesty accuracy
It’s just popular opinion
And the approval ratings high
And so someone’s gonna die

Well ABC NBC CBS bullshit
They give us fact or fiction
I guess an even split
And each new act of war’s tonight’s entertainment
We’re still the pawns in their game

As they take eye for an eye
Until no one can see
We must stumble blindly forward
Repeating history

G.G. Allin...jus kiddin, most of the greats are already here, cept maybe The Casualties, Oi Polloi, Suicide Machines, plus there is some good hardcore like Earth Crisis (EARLY STUFF ONLY) that has some pretty sound anti-capitalist stuff. I also am in love with this Burlington VT band called Tired of Trying. They never come out and say that they are Anarchists, and I have actually aksed one of their members and he said they weren't, but they are all about working class power. Plus they fucking rock.
