Radio Free Cascadia Jammed
Radio Free Cascadia
Celebrating One Year of Community Based Micropower Radio
PO Box 12200 Eugene, OR 97440
Radio985@efn.org
On Friday June 18 at approximately 2:00 p.m. Radio Free Cascadia
at 98.5 MHz was mysteriously jammed in an isolated area corresponding
to the Reclaim the Streets rally. The Reclaim the Streets rally
was supposed to include a live broadcast of dance music as the main
audio entertainment.
The RFC collective feels it was the work of some governmental agency
determined to sabotage the day's events and provoke police violence.
This is the first time that we know of that our transmission has
been tampered with.
The RFC collective feels that it is imperative that the people
of Eugene are aware that community supported free speech is being
infringed upon at all levels. This incident proves that there are
forces at work that will resort to extreme measures to destabilize
situations and put innocent people in danger for political gains.
RFC is a non-violent direct action to assert the people's right
to freedom of all media and we will continue to operate under our
normal schedule.
