N30/Buenos Aires press release
N30: Against the WTO Millennium Round
LET OUR RESISTANCE BE AS TRANSNATIONAL AS THE CAPITAL! Tuesday
30, as from 3:00 p.m. in front of the Stock Exchange (SARMIENTO
299, Buenos Aires)
501 Collective Group invites both affinity groups and individuals
to take part in the worldwide action day for this tuesday, November
30, in several cities of the world against the WTO's Millenium Round.
In this WTO meeting, major outlines for the direction of economic
politics and the capitalist system in general will be defined for
the next years. Because of its actual and symbolic meaning, this
meeting represents the summit of the great capital deciding on the
fates of the world. In response to this, and following a first worldwide
global action experience of June 18 against the C-7 Summit in Koln,
thousands of activists around the world will manifest in diverse
manners, with the perspective of renovating the ways of making politics
and going on with the construction of an international resistance
network.
501 bursted into the Argentinean political stage last October 24
(general elections day) stating that this so-called democracy was
miles away from actually being one, since hardly anything fundamental
was indeed being decided on that day. This November 30, we will
keep on testing this construction of "democracy and politics beyond
the vote". For this reason, this time our protesting action will
be focused in a summit where the outlines of exploitation for millions
of human beings as well as the plundering and destruction of the
planet will be set, and where policies will be imposed on states
which, from their emptied democracies, will have to implement.
Our action will take place in front of the Stock Exchange of the
city of Buenos Aires, in 25 de Mayo and Corrientes, this Tuesday
as from 3:00 p.m.
There, a mocking auction of human values, nature and persons, and
a barter fair (everyone bringing anything for barter especially
invited) will be performed as a way of expressing social bonds in
opposition to the WTO's neoliberal trade logic, represented in Buenos
Aires by the Stock Exchange. We are looking forward to counting
on you all, either as particular or as organizations. Every new
proposal to add and enhnace the common action will be welcome.
